The Way You Look Tonight

I grew up watching with my father classic movies that mesmerized me. One of my favorites was Fred Astaire and his dancing with Ginger Rogers and others like Cyd Charisse had me glued to the television. My father never danced, he had more than five left feet. But I did dance and enjoy it to this day. I begged for dance lessons until I was sixteen and then it was impossible to continue.

The Way You Look Tonight from Swing Time show us Fred signing to Ginger who surprises him with a head full of lather. That embarrassed her but it was the whole point of the show. It tells of the love of a man for a woman, no matter what she looks like.

Timeless scene from the 1936 movie "Swing Time". Fred Astaire singing "The Way You Look Tonight"

It was while listening to Michael Bublé's cover driving home alone one day, after taking the kids to school, that my men came to life. With Bublé's sexy voice in the background, it was not hard to see Jamie look at Miles with love. The message is still the same, but the characters and setting are different. Also, this is sexier. Did I mention that? Jamie's singing is a different matter altogether but you'll have to discover that on your own.

My novella of the same title borrowed from the beloved standard is coming sometime later this year. It will be published by Wayward Ink Publishing
