How To Read My Stories So No One Freaks Out

I've been asked a lot about my books, especially the series ones. I have several. The common question is why I write the way I do. I fin...

The GBU, The Beautiful & What's 2017 Going To Look Like...and It's Raining Puppies!

Happy New Year Everyone!

It's 8:50 am as I'm writing this, January 1st, 2017 and I got rain of the first day of the year as well as puppies. I can't tell how many there are, in my FB I posted that pictures will come, but as my recalcitrant little Angie's not done giving birth, and my dachshund, Couscous, is still in the first stages of waiting-for-the-labor-to-pup, I won't post them yet. This is an exciting day for me. I adore puppies and can't wait to play with them all. Can't wait to get them adopted, too, but that's another story altogether.

2016 started out hesitantly for me, but I finally bit the bullet and did an awful lot of stuff. The biggest decision I had to make was taking a step back from blogging when I got overwhelmed with tasks and deadlines. Either I met the writing deadlines to submissions I'd signed up for, or I missed them and went on with the blogging. I chose the writing deadlines. This came at a time when my asthma just went out of whack and caught me blindsided, it was so bad. It took forever last year to get over the difficulties in breathing and having to deal with medications that made me have uncontrollable tremors and made me so high I was dreaming up daisies. (Note: I hate daisies. End. Note.)

Well, 2016 was full of GBUs, many were great and good, and there were lots of disappointments, too. I want to get rid of the disappointments so I'm going to go and talk about them first, but very briefly as I hate dwelling on spilt anything. I take up my mop and erase, then wash off the stink and leave a glistening floor.

Friendships were made, friendships were lost. That is the top boo-boo of 2016 for me. No, I'm not talking politics, that's meh, although I'd had to block a few because of some really nasty surprises. Friendships made online is fickle my friends, but there are many I've made through the years who're still close to my heart. Those I'd lost were mostly because of their selfishness which I can't stand. It speaks of the egotistical me, mine and myself and...well, I'm just not that type of gal.

One was lost because of some stupid issue I never wish to think or write about, so throwing it over my shoulder and vacuuming later. The second was lost because of theft, and I wish that former beta the best of fluck. Never will you grace your hands on my intellectual property again. (Yes, I have proof.) The third was because of a Careless Whisper - pun intended - for it happened on George Michael's death announcement. I loved that man, ever since I first heard him and saw him on MTV back in college (over 30 years ago peeps), I just fell for the guy. I don't have a lot of idols, but he was on the top five of mine. The top being David Bowie who also broke my heart for dying on me. Alan Rickman was another, he also broke my heart for he is forever my Sheriff of Nottingham and Severus Snape. A former "friend" commented something careless on a status I left on FB and it left me speechless, and unable to think of how to react. I wanted to scream, I wanted to yell, I ended up crying in my little corner, asked permission from a good friend if I could block and unfriend. My friend Ann was brutal to say the least. She said, do it! Now! So I reached out and unfollowed before clicking the final button option of BLOCK. You just don't know how your words hurt, former "friend." It was careless of you to say you honestly didn't think I was feeling broken for GM's death. Of course, who are you to know his songs gave me the ability to hold my head up high long ago, when I needed it most?

And no, I'm not going to bother talking about what went on for reals.

Image result for the future looks goodOkay, done with the sob story. Let's get on with what's coming for Jo Tannah in 2017. One word: LOTS!

First, I need to thank my former publisher, Wayward Ink, Publishing and it's owner, Lily Velden, for giving me that chance to submit and get published. I learned a lot of things during my short stint there, things that I will forever treasure and never forget. Due to some unforeseen circumstance, I had to make the difficult decision to pull back my books from their publication and, thankfully, I've been given my rights back. I will write another post about this topic on a later date, just know that for now, Hidden: Evils and The Way You Look Tonight (The Standards, Book #2) have been taken down from all vending sites, I will find a new home for them, but as I only got word on early evening of December 31st (last night) on my way out to a NYE dinner celebration, I couldn't very well address the issue. As for my other contracted works there, only one remains, and that is Royal: Guardian, a part of the Men In Uniform anthology. It's a short story written for that antho and will continue to be sold by Wayward Ink.

Second, I need to thank my publisher, eXtasy Books, for taking a risk on an unknown and publish Compelled. That was the beginning of a beautiful relationship that continues to get better everyday. The All Romance eBooks' fiasco of a closure was shocking, but as I had no self-published works there, I was not greatly affected. That eXtasy Books took the bull by its horns and declared all its authors were safe from that diabolical backstab of a cowardly move, I am now even more grateful for being a part of the eXtasy family. My other author friends, however, were not spared of the backlash and I was feeling too shocked for them and helping some find ways to get their books out there again. I hope I helped, even in my little way. (Note: this was a crappy way to end the year, you do know that right?) Thankfully, all readers who bought the good stuff over at ARE can now go present their receipts to the publishers like eXtasy and get their copies again. Just make sure you sign up for free, okay? You'll get all formats.

What's coming?

So far, I have these listed. I can't think straight really, I'm still reeling with the changes 2017 brings, so here goes. Remember, these are my schedules and can change any time. I may list them here, but I really have no idea if they are going to be released or not.

January - Release of Kilig (Elation)
February - Re-release of The Way You Look Tonight
March - Re-release of Hidden: Evils;
April - Hegira (Done. In process of tweaking)
May - Hidden: Dimensions (Done. In process of tweaking)
June - His Closet Key (a work in progress) co-authoring
July - Untitled: Taboo, Book #2 (a work in progress)
August - Justified (Objectified, Book #2) (a work in progress)
September - The Lemonade Stand (a work in progress) co-authoring; Joshua (a work in progress)
October - Scandal: Admission to Love (a work in progress)
November - Release of House On 16th St. (a work in progress)
December - Actualized (Objectified, Book #3) (a work in progress)

I actually have 5 more titles (3 books to a series (finished) and 2 standalones), but as I have no idea how to deal with them yet, I won't put them up. Oh boy, now that I'm thinking about this, I am really putting my head on the block here. Imagine! I gave myself deadlines! Holy camote! I think I just spilled over to 2018 *facepalm*

Ending this post on a good note by saying, Thank You, all of you, for reading my books, for giving me the chance to write my stories, and for just being there. I also wish to thank my lovely betas and friends, John and Jerry, Ann Mickan, Bronwyn Heeley, and Alina Popescu. I wish the miles were mere inches away, but the world is round and there's nothing we can do but Skype and be merry. Your friendship, your support, your brilliance at seeing the real me and knowing how I think (weird and manic) has given my online life a lot of good things to cherish. Your ability to make me see logic, whoa, that is my pot of gold. Your smirks when giving the back of my head a virtual loving tap to get me to see things straight, those love pats are even more treasured than the stuff toys and dolls lining my walls. Your shredding my work and making me see the shit I wrote is full of shit and have to be changed and edited, oh boy, I love getting whipped guys. Thank you *mwah*

If I sound like a masochist, I'm really not.
Even if I love the works of KC Wells and Parker Williams too much,
I'm really not into masochism. I just wanted to clarify this point. Thank you. *sniff*

And finally, to Susan Mac Nicol. Ms Susan, no other words but this: I love you. Thank you for being there especially when you gave me a logical talking to when I thought my heart would break.

All ready now! *shrugsandbrushesoff2016* I'm ready to rock! Let's all do this and be happy for what we have.

Happy New Year everybody *hugskissesandallthatsweetnessoverload*

Reblog: A Taboo Christmas as Reviewed by Serena Yates on 15-December-2016

Thank you to Rainbow Book Reviews and Serena Yates for this awesome review of A Taboo Christmas!

Theoretically Christmas should be bringing people closer together, especially family members. But somehow that doesn’t always seem to work, and ‘A Taboo Christmas’ is a case in point. Zach and Tristan have been together for a while (see ‘Taboo’ where they meet), but with the twenty-three year age difference and Zach’s father being Tristan’s best friend, they know to expect some issues. Nothing could have prepared them for the chaos that ensues when Zach’s Filipino grandparents come for an unannounced Christmas visit. I enjoyed the family problems and watching how Zach and Tristan dealt with them, despite the fact I have not read the first book. This works very well as a standalone.
The whirlwind who is Zach’s grandmother has everyone dancing to her tune in no time. She has accepted that Zach is gay a long time ago, and seeing him paired up with the much older Tristan doesn’t seem to faze her either. But she has definite ideas about how the holidays should be celebrated, and she doesn’t listen to anyone – not even the fact that they are mostly vegetarian and she is intent on preparing a ton of traditional meat-based dishes stops her. Zach and Tristan’s ability to keep a cool head under stressful conditions is severely tested. They also have trouble finding enough time to connect as a couple, but they do their best to meet any and all challenges. Very cute!
If you like big family celebrations and the chaos they can cause, and if you’re looking for a read about a couple dedicated to each other no matter what, then you might like this short story.

Author Happy Holidays Hop!

Hi guys!

As you may well know, it's the season to be jolly and I and other participating authors would like to invite you over to our home-sites so you could get a chance to check out their latest holiday releases or if not, to simply get to know them. It's always great to meet and greet new people, right? For myself, I'm kind of shy about the process, but after the initial hesitance, I find out I was just being nervous. Once you get to meet new people, you not only widen your horizons, but your knowledge of great authors as well.

Down below are the individual links to the other authors taking part in this hop, hosted by the incredible, but not diva, Nicki J. Markus, who's not only a great author herself, but is such a tough editor she makes my head spin. (No, don't think Exorcist...only a bit but not quite.) Pretty please and click on their links, they have some nice surprises for you guys.

Now, you all know I've got two releases this holiday season, one's already out and the other is to be released December 23rd. Both books are exclusively distributed (so far) by

Thanks so much for dropping by and I hope you enjoy reading the excerpts of my new releases below.

Excerpt from Chapter One of A Taboo Christmas

“Damnit... Zach!” The loud moan escaped Tristan’s lips, his mouth parted just as he jerked his hips up in an involuntary move. He struggled for breath.
“Don’t move.”
Tristan heard the whispered words around his hard arousal before he felt the tip of his cock meet the back of Zachary’s throat.
“You’re killing me, hon,” Tristan panted out.
He heard Zach make a sound before gasping out again, the moan sent vibrations up his cock. The resulting sensation sent a current of electricity straight into his balls making him tilt his head back in pleasurable shock against the pillow beneath it. With his hands gripping the headboard behind him, it was all Tristan could do not to scream. He’d desperately tried to hold it back ever since he’d woken to Zach deep-throating him.
The sensations leveled out allowing him to catch his breath and breathe in through his lips. For long moments, Zach maintained his strong suctions, until Tristan’s pleasure reached almost intolerable levels. To his despair, and delight, Zach showed no signs of letting up. Lulled into the steady stimulation, moving his hips up when Zach seemed to slow down before licking his glans, Tristan’s lips curved into a smile. He looked forward to that moment when Zach would make his move.
Zach released his cock with a soft pop before firmly setting his teeth into that soft junction where his thigh met his hips. The bite sent frissons of uncontrollable heat up his spine and even though he’d been expecting it, Tristan could not suppress his scream as the sudden, violent orgasm was wrenched out of him.
For long moments, Tristan could only grit his teeth, hang on to the headboard, and feel his balls empty in multiple, violent eruptions. Tremors wracked his body, his knees rising involuntarily, only to be gently pushed down by Zach’s firm touch. When the sensations finally settled to a gentle thrum throughout his body, he felt the hot wetness of a tongue as Zach slowly licked him clean.

Tristan couldn’t quite restrain letting out a groan when the wet tongue licked over and inside his sensitized slit. He heard Zach’s soft chuckle, before he felt him move up and over him. Zach gently straddled his hips before easing his hands off the headboard he hadn’t noticed he’d still been gripping tightly.
Tristan felt Zach run his hands over his arms, humming softly to himself as he massaged the tense muscles there. He finally opened his eyes and took in the man on top of him. His heart thumped hard under in his ribs, like it always did when he laid eyes on his lover. Boyfriend. Partner.
Sitting astride him, Zach’s lean, sweaty body loomed above him, making Tristan want to lick the smooth skin. The heat radiating off Zach’s body only intensifying the heat coming off his.
Tristan still couldn’t get over how this man, twenty-three years his junior, would look at him the way he was doing now. The chocolate brown eyes, rimmed with long, black lashes, looked down at him with such love and want in them, they never failed to take his breath away. He’d never thought he’d feel the way he did for another, other than his children of course.
No, scrap that. This man may be younger than him, and someone his children considered their best friend, but what they now had together, it went beyond mere attraction or a tender regard.
The intensity of how he felt each time their gazes met, or when Zach spoke, there were times the feelings overwhelmed him, scared him even, should he have the guts to admit it. How he loved this man. He didn’t have the right words to describe what he felt. He could only feel and it felt wonderful and made him feel safe.
Zach leaned over and locked his lips over Tristan’s in a heated kiss. Opening his mouth, relishing the hot tongue meeting his in an erotic duel, Tristan lost himself to the delicious flavor that was all Zachary Parker.

Excerpt from Chapter One of Winter Roses
Whenever he sat down to meet his father’s council, be they the heads of government or just the cabinet, Anwyll always adhered to protocols and formalities. Addressing the men seated around him according to their titles and positions kept the meetings in order, and no one had cause to accuse anyone of any slight or wrong doing. Considering his father’s advisers were also members of his extended family or close friends, it was one way to curb the tendency of some to flaunt their connections.
His father never failed to remind him that he, King Eljin, was there as the king, and he, Anwyll, as the prince. With barely one month remaining before taking over his father’s position, it served well to remind the attendants of the officious nature of the meeting.
Anwyll sat to the right of his father at the head of the table, while his uncle, Chief Counselor Fiacre, sat to his left. On either side of the long table were his two cousins, Lairgnen and Llewellyn, attending in their capacities as kingdom ministers.
This morning there were only five of them in attendance, not counting their secretaries and aides standing about, ready to do their bidding. Earlier, Fiacre had handed Anwyll an update on the preparations being made for the Yula celebration. With it was a list of potential candidates for the role of royal consort.
Yula only occurred once in every generation. On the winter solstice, when a royal heir turned twenty-five, they became eligible to take over the reins in the management of the kingdom. The three-day winter holiday celebrated three important events that would change everyone’s lives.
Even when other children had been born to the family, if a royal birth occurred on the eve of the winter solstice, that child would be declared the heir to the throne. It didn’t matter if they were male or female, the eldest, middle or the youngest. Because of the timing of their birth, they were considered a gift from the gods. Of course, no one could ignore the physical sign of the royal heir—they were all born with silver hair.
On the first day of Yula, guests were expected to bring in gifts to their abdicating king. These were to be placed in a room for the king to examine privately and to choose from. The king would then appear before the assembly and show off the favored gift. Whoever brought that gift was then given a monetary reward, forever cementing their reputation and pockets.
On the second day, the heir was expected to reveal the identity of their consort. If he or she had not already found their chosen from among their peers, they were given the one night to find one from among the guests.
Aspiring families wanting royal connections through their children did not hesitate to spend their money on dressing them in extravagant clothes. The parade of elegantly dressed royal personages was a spectacle the populace looked forward to, even if they were only to witness it from their viewing monitors at home.

The third and final day celebrated the bonding and coronation of the newly anointed king and consort followed immediately by the royal couple paying homage to their people and a pledge of public service.
Anwyll read over the list and made a face at the names he saw there. Yes, his uncle had included the names of the sons of his friends and business colleagues. Unfortunately, Anwyll knew all of them. It was not that they were unattractive—they were just too young for his taste. He was not one to have to raise a child while married to them. Setting the paper aside, barely concealing his distaste, he picked up another. A quick run through over the list of expenditures immediately revealed that someone had decided to go overboard in anticipation of the Yula celebrations
He tapped on the paper with a finger and looked at his uncle. “I thought I said we were to stick to the budget I’d approved. This says the planners are already over budget.”
“Yes, they are, and I warned you it might happen when we last talked,” Fiacre said.
“You have to remember that our people are expecting a spectacle,” King Eljin said beside him. “They’ve been looking forward to celebrating Yula since the day of your birth. We have to give them the experience. If they see a lackluster presentation, they’re going to feel slighted and think the gods are withholding their blessings.”
Anwyll looked at the faces around him. “Where did they get the extra money?”
Fiacre harrumphed when no one answered his question. “Your father approved the extra expense.”
Anwyll sensed the discomfort from the others as they struggled to keep their faces blank of expression. They knew of Anwyll and his father’s differing opinions on managing monetary affairs. Where King Eljin tended to be lax when it came to money, Anwyll had a reputation for being close-fisted.
“I, among all of us, should know how important Yula is to our people. However, I gave the planners a certain amount and I expected them to adhere to it without going behind my back and consulting my father about it.” He looked at his cousins’ masked faces and knew that they either knew nothing or if they did, had disapproved of the action.
“I will let this slide for now as it’s already too late and the money has been spent. They placed the king in a precarious situation, and I don’t blame him for approving the release of the money. What’s done is done. However, please inform the event planners this is their first and final warning.”
