REBLOG: FIGHTING BACK – A CIVILISED REVOLUTION by @SusanMacNicol7 #homophobia #banned #discrimination #fightingback

Fighting Back – A Civilised Revolution
I think we can agree that we in the LGBTQ writer community are sick and tired of Facebook and its crazy algorithms that APPEAR, mind I say APPEAR, to be to the detriment of the genre with some leaning towards the dreaded h***phobia word.
It’s time to fight back. We don’t know whether it will do anything; we don’t know whether we’ll be outlawed and ostracised from Facebook. I, for one, have the cojones to say I don’t care. If Facebook doesn’t let me do my thing, I’ll find some other way. Perhaps the way authors and pimpers share and get the word out about their books could do with a shake-up. Maybe we’ll realise another way to do this or find another place to do it. We can all migrate there like little creative starlings in flight and put down roots…
What we can’t do is continue to be banned for daring to show a naked man’s torso, a slight bit of groin without the dangly (or upright bits) and certainly not two guys kissing or manhandling each other with their clothes on. Or GASP!!! A man with a morning boner.
Yes, I know Facebook’s rules. Yes, I understand their community standards. But until they apply equally to everyone on Facebook without them picking on the likes of us, I say they are skewed and until the same rules apply to all, I for one cannot take them seriously. Even our own Author Pages are not sacrosanct, the one place where we are supposed to be able to ply our trade in peace and profitability. And secret and private groups? Pah. Don’t make me laugh. They are no more sacred than anywhere else.
I’ve seen dead babies, animals horrifically injured, naked women’s t*ts, people posting photos of their dead husband, children who have been abused, shocking images of torture and war, twerking asses of said naked woman with only a thong, mostly naked females showing all sorts of nasty lower extremis bits…and nothing happens. I posted one such video recently from their gif section -and so far, no one from Facebook has said anything. Their bots haven’t picked it up because obviously, it’s acceptable.
I have a strategy and as I don’t want anyone else to have to take any heat for this, I’m going to tell you about it here via my website and find a safe place to collate the data I need to present to Facebook as a clear case of discrimination. Unfortunately, even secret, ‘I’d have to kill you if you told anyone about it,’ groups aren’t safe anymore. Facebook has invaded them and nothing is sacred.
There is no safe space.
We’ve all talked about it, bemoaned it, grumbled to each other about it – and now I want us to DO something about it. Because talk is cheap and action at least means we have made our voice heard, expressed our opinion, even if it gets nowhere, or gets me permanently kicked off FB.
This is a civilised revolution. And I need your help.
If you have a picture that was banned, please email it to me at shanetemplar7@gmail.com. I want to keep this stuff separate so good old sexy Shane is going to be the fall guy.
I also want pictures you’ve seen that YOU think violate the Facebook rules – anything YOU find sexually or morally offensive or unsuitable. Give me some details about the picture if you have it.
I’ll gather these together, write some sort of protest, maybe even start a petition. I’ll also be getting in touch with some of the LGBT organisations and seeing if they have any muscle to support it. Anyone who wants to come on the mission with me is welcome. It might get lonely in Facebook jail 😊
Of course, if no one sends me any pictures, I’ll assume that everything in fact is not as bad as I think it is and I’ll forge ahead on my lonesome. Apathy is sometimes the easiest way to let the bullies win. I truly don’t judge anyone for the decision they make, but personally? I need to feel better about it within myself.
Oh and if you don’t hear from me again – you know where I’ll be. Send cake, coffee and chocolate, and my Kindle and I’ll be just fine. Oh and my laptop. May as well get some writing done while I’m incarcerated.

I've Got Exciting News and I Can't Stand It! #HiddenFates #Waylaid #IAMBEINGME

Hi, peeps!

The past months I've been lying low, but not because I was being unproductive. On the contrary, I have been busy as a bee jumping from one WIP to the next, completing several stories that had been in standby mode for some months, and starting + finishing new ones that popped up and wouldn't shut up. I'm sorry, but I can't reveal everything just yet, though I have been dropping hints here and there on my Facebook pages, both under real-life names and of course, the Jo Tannah pen name. (Yes, in case you missed it, this is a pen name, but it's not invented as these are both my nicknames in real life.)

So you're asking yourself, what's happening with this crazy author?

Well, as I said, busy writing and keeping quiet for a number of reasons. However, there are three books coming out within weeks of each other that I can now talk openly about with you guys. For those who have been following me on my FB pages, you know what these are, but most likely missed out because of all the confusing feeds and absentee notifications that seem to be currently plaguing FB. Hold on, bear with me.

First, we have my third and final installment to the Hidden Series. This trilogy is made up of three different stories straight out of my journal. I wrote these with the Halloween Season in mind. Three paranormal stories, all based on local lore and urban legends. Next year, I will have a different set to release for the Halloween Season. I'm thinking of making this a seasonal thing, so I'm looking forward to penning more of these haunting, scary stories I grew up with.

Jonathan and Rafe Wilkins-Campbell have just bought their dream home. They thought it was a place they could both settle and enjoy the good life.
They were wrong.
Strange things begin to happen during the renovation, inexplicable events that defy logical explanation. When things finally get back to normal, Jonathan and Rafe enjoy getting wrapped up in the chaos of settling into their new home.
However, all is not what it seems and The House on 16th Street and its inhabitants have their own idea of how things should be. Jonathan and Rafe find themselves trapped within it, victims of the house’s every twisted need and they will need every fibre of courage and determination they possess to make it through.

(Make sure to grab these two over at eXtasy as they're on a month-long Sale so you get to save 30%)

Second, is my short story, WAYLAID. I had written this one last year but never found the right medium to publish it with. Medium being what genre? What category? Part of an anthology? What?
And then eXtasy Books connected and asked for a short story, may or may not be a start or part of a series, paranormal, ready for publication for the GRL in Denver...well, I submitted this and was accepted. The cover is generic because it has been categorized as a themed release, the story, however, is far from generic.

Release Date: October 22, 2017

The world is in chaos. From the gates of hell come the monsters and beasts that myths and legends are made of.

Caught at the turning point of an alternate reality, two young men’s lives are irrevocably changed.

Waylaid
The Phantom Hunters, Prequel

And finally, we have Being Me Anthology. This one is close to my heart. So if you have the time to check it out, please do. It is for charity and will do a whole lot of good for the young men and women out there who are feeling insecure and uncertain of who or what they are simply because society makes them second-guess themselves. We've all been at that stage one time or another. Let's all share a helping hand and help one another.

Being Me by [Campaign, Being Me]
Preordering is now available on Amazon and Smashwords

At last - a book for everyone! 16 stories by 15 talented writers. The Being Me Campaign Anthology will go live on the 1st November. Get it first by pre-order and support this amazing outreach program.

84% of young people and 80% of adults have or are suffering from bullying, discrimination or prejudice for simply being who they are. The Being Me Campaign is innovative in their approach to addressing these social issues; they are one of the only charities that does not focus on one specific area. As individuals, the Campaign is made up of many differences, and believe it’s important to have conversations together.

We are all human; we all deserve the same respect, kindness and equality. As a charity, the Being Me Campaign has an open-door policy, so people from all backgrounds and differences may come together to learn about one another, because far more unites us than divides us.

Is that it, you say?

Well, in a word: NO.

I've got several books lines up for release after these three and so far, I've stepped into 2018. This has been a good year for me. It's been prolific and the reception to most of my books have been mind-boggling. I'm constantly amazed by how many readers have come to enjoy my stories. I only hope I can keep up with the bunnies hopping in my head, be fast enough to type out the words and get them out there to be enjoyed.

For now, until November, these three books are sure to keep you entertained. Some of them are sad, some of them are frustrating, some of them are a little scary. In the end, though, they were a joy to write and I'm just glad I was able to put them down.

Have a Happy Halloween Season everyone. I'll see you soon, when the Christmas Season comes knocking.

...and yes. I have the books lined up for release. I'm just not telling when or what titles.

Love you all! Keep safe! Have fun! Enjoy the reads.

RIP Dear Irene. I'll Miss You.

I got terrible news today. I learned that a good online friend and confidant, Irene (not her real name), died of health complications. She'd been in and out of the hospital for some time and she'd been saying she was running out of time. Time ran out for dear Irene and I'll miss her too much.

No automatic alt text available.I never met her in person, but I did talk to her quite a lot. We never let it know to any that we were in constant contact and that she held that gentle whip to steer me in the right direction. It was thanks to Irene that two of my works, Hidden Series and Rise of the Symbionts were developed. Way back when I had no idea how to put thoughts into words the way an author would do it, she gave me the feedback and the guidance on how to put my thoughts to paper and make them readable.

It was thanks to Irene that I dedicated these two series I'd penned, especially Bobik and Dobik, who've both been immortalized as the Dragon Symbiont wonders. Her alter-ego, Dr. Candor, was also the inspiration and the name behind one of the characters in the series. It was thanks to her words of encouragement that my daughter decided to go for a degree in Law. Sadly, we were looking forward to seeing each other come Jan 2019 when I'm scheduled to go to Australia.

Irene was one of my original beta readers for she insisted I continue sending her my works and be given the chance to go over my work and criticize it to a better version.  She was a friend and I'll miss her terribly. I promised her that I would continue Bobik and Dobik's story. I will continue their stroy. I'm just sad that she'll never know the extent to which these two beautiful dragons will prove their might and wonder.
