Oops! I Did It Again this round of December: #Releases, #Sale, & #MM more @MickanAnn @headoutofoven

Once again it's the season to be jolly and boy, do I have some joy to give you 😍

I've got two releases this month of December.

December 5th, A Lemon Flavoured Christmas
This is part of the 2017 eXtasy Books Stocking Stuffers. This is  I've co-written with Ann Mickan which began with The Lemonade Stand.

A Lemon Flavoured Christmas' picks up where The Lemonade Stand left the boys and follows them into the hot Australian Christmas season. This is the second instalment of The Boys' Next Door Series

Lemonade can be an acquired taste.
After recently meeting again over Ian’s twin sisters’ lemon-ade stand, Michael Alexander and Ian Hamilton have given in to an attraction that Ian had been fantasising about for years and Michael couldn’t resist.
With big decisions to be made and family responsibilities and expectations to be taken into account, how will these two young men navigate the beginnings of an intense and consuming relationship? Will Michael’s maturity and stead-fastness outweigh Ian’s insecurities and tendency to play games?
As the holiday season quickly approaches through the Australian summer heat, the boys must address the heat that is constantly simmering between them, threatening to ex-plode like a Christmas cracker at any moment.

Here's a little snippet from one of my favourite scenes ...

“Behave, I’m driving here,” Michael reprimanded him, but not in a stern way. His eyes flicked over in his direction before looking back to the road. There was an indulgent smile on his lips.
“I know,” Ian said, a cheeky smile tugging at his mouth. “But, if I was misbehaving, I would’ve done this.” He reached for Michael’s crotch and gave him a quick squeeze.
Michael sucked in a sharp breath and almost growled. “Ian!” Ian bit the inside of his lower lip when he saw Michael’s white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel.
“Or, maybe this.” He rubbed his palm firmly up and down along the zipper of Michael’s jeans. He wasn’t disappointed by the instant response.
“Ian! Seriously!” Michael shifted in his seat. “If you want to make it home alive, you’d better stop that.” Although Michael sounded serious, he could see the beginnings of a grin stretching across his face and hear a chuckle just below the surface of his words.
“You really want me to stop?” Ian asked, forming the pout on his lips that he’d already worked out drove Michael to distraction. “But, what if I did this?”
December 15th, Christmas Unwrapped
This is a spin-off story to my Taboo Series and features Joshua, the eldest son of Tristan and one of Zachary's best friends. He finds his on happily-ever-after. Who knows what the future may bring, but for now, this will end the series.

Christmas only comes once a year, but love lasts a lifetime.
No one would consider Joshua Maxfield shy or standoffish. Fact is, he’d never had a hard time enjoying the holidays. Not this year. This Christmas, he is feeling lonely and insecure for the first time in his life.
Josua Miranda had always been an aggressive lawyer, however, for matters of the heart, he is reserved. He saw Joshua enter his firm as an intern three months before and immediately recognized fate's intercession.

The Knockers

***The three hooded dark figures adorning the walls of Santa Eulalia Cathedral, Barcelona had always scared me. I would look at the pictures and shiver in fear, wondering if these were The Knockers, or as in the Philippines Legends we refer to as Kumakatok. These are stories handed down from generation to generation and somehow, they never change. They are portents of death. This short little story is my take on the urban legend. Hope you like it.

THE KNOCKERS

The seconds ticked. Trickles of sweat ran down Ezra’s temple. It made his skin itch, but he dared not move a muscle. One moment of distraction and he could lose Christian. His gaze flicked to the wall clock. As though in slow motion, the long hand moved from ten to eleven, and settled next to the shorthand already beneath twelve. More seconds ticked by, and the hand moved again.
Outside, an owl began to hoot, but Ezra didn’t dare look out. The moment of distraction was all that it took and the hand moved closer to twelve. Ezra felt his heart thunder in his chest. He tightened his hold on Christian’s hand as the sound of wings on flight broke through the dark, silent night.
“Ezra.” Christian’s raspy voice lured Ezra from his silent vigil. With trepidation, he looked into the eyes of his beloved.
“I’m not leaving you alone,” Ezra said. A tear fell on his cheek, followed by another and another.
“You must go, my love.”
“I’m not leaving you alone,” Ezra repeated with vehemence.
“The knockers are coming.”
“They will never take you away from me.”
“There is no stopping them.”
Three knocks on the door stopped whatever words Ezra was going to say. He inched closer to Christian when the door opened. Three hooded figures, one a pretty, young woman and two elderly men stood under the light of the three moons. Ezra crouched low over Christian, sobbing out his fear and anguish into his neck.
Like a tsunami, a whispered word swept through the hut.
Vengeance.
Seconds ticked, the longhand passed the shorthand. The three hooded figures turned their backs on the assassins’ lifeless bodies. Payment accepted. Justice had been served.

What is Hegira?

This is the definition according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

Hegira : an exodus or migration. noun: hegira; plural noun: hegiras

I wrote this piece for fun, a what if these things happen as I was watching CNN. I won't explain further, only I did this sometime October or November of 2015. When my old publisher put out a call for a sci-fi anthology, I tweaked this little story and submitted sometime June or was it July? I'm no longer certain, but then it didn't get published. The anthology never came about. When I got my rights back to my stories, this was one of them. I hadn't read this since I'd submitted it, and when I finally did, I got scared of what I had written.

No, this is not horror, not like The Hunt. This one's far scarier for me. And I wrote it.

Note: Yes, guys, this is Free. So if you have the time, please go to the Amazon link once it's up and let them know it's free everywhere else. Thank you.

Until we meet again on the other side of the rainbow.

We all woke up to the terrible news on Sunday 12th June, 2016, of the horrific attack in Orlando, and not only did it affect the LGBT community, it also outraged the world.
So many of us felt powerless as we watched the horror unfold upon our screens, but Patricia Strehle had a remarkable idea, one that would galvanize an entire community into action. Patricia brought a group of people together with the idea of creating a book, an anthology, and donating all the proceeds from its sale to the families affected by this terrible tragedy.
Over The Rainbow is the result—stories contributed by so many wonderful authors from all over the world. These stories are meant to inspire, to warm the heart, to bring a smile or a gentle laugh to help guide us all through the darkness, and to remind us that we all inhabit this world together, that we need to be kind, and that sometimes, we just need to follow that yellow brick road hand in hand.
All sales proceeds from this Anthology will go to the following Charity: https://www.gofundme.com/PulseVictimsFund

Hi guys, this is a post I hesitated to put up. I didn't want to focus on the marketing aspect of this incredible anthology but if I don't then no one would know about it.

Who can forget that terrifying day of June 12, 2016? I definitely never will but I have to be honest, I saw it announced on TV and dismissed it. I did, yes. It was another horrendous breaking news where a psychopath got the courage (note sarcasm) to express his feelings using a gun that should never have been sold to a civilian in the first place. I was getting tired of it. Who isn't?

That is a behavior I'll never repeat for everything that happens can impact our lives. It did mine.

Mind you, before you judge, I handled guns. Note, it's past tense. I come from a country where the inability to use a gun is just plain stupidity. I come from a time before Martial Law was put into place. I come from a country where gun fights a la O.K. Corral was an everyday occurrence. I grew up seeing people bringing high powered guns everywhere and I did get trained using them—by my father along with my brothers. However, my father did it with a lot of caution and a whole lot of love. He had to do it. It was a necessity for us, growing up. Being female. After Martial Law, things got a bit quieter and I grew up in a country where the political tension simmered. When ML was lifted, we could all use guns again, but this time within the confines of a gun club and under strict government control on licenses. A decade later, more laws were passed and it grew harder and harder to use or even buy a gun. Time passed and now my country only has one computer to handle all the gun licensing and it is very difficult for everyone and anyone. Through all these years, you could only count on one hand the incidents like those happening in the U.S. Barely even. Don't blame me if I got sick opening CNN and the news is another stupid act of violence.

But something caught my attention hours later.

The number of deaths was a shock to see on the television screen. It involved people who were just having fun in a club they deemed safe. The victims were young men and women, lovers, parents, new graduates, even a mother who only went to the club to celebrate another cancer remission.

The tears began to fall and they continued to fall for days. Not two or three days. More like, a whole week. The reading of the names, that broke me and many more who monitored the news and other social media.

I didn't know how to reach out or to help. That is, until I chanced upon a post on Facebook. It called for authors to donate a short story that would celebrate life and love. I shared it and continued to monitor, not knowing who to call, how to connect, or even what to write if I ever did. It's quite difficult to come up with a light-hearted story when all I could do was cry.

But then, as they say, when the plot bunny comes knocking, you answer the door. I sat down and wrote four thousand words and in a day, was done with the first draft. On the second day, I made my children read it, yes it is safe for straight eighteen-year-olds. Between us three, we managed to tweak it good enough for submission.

My story, the title is Sock It To Me. It is a short story sci-fi that addresses the mysterious disappearance of socks. It is not meant to provide explanation of where pairs of socks go after a round in the dryer, but it is a theory I'd been playing around with for years.

There are many others involved in the anthology, and eXtasy Books was good enough to help out and make this publication possible. There is no money involved for me, or the other authors who donated stories. Even the author name is Friends of Dorothy who is in toto, all of us who love the rainbow way. Each book sold will help me and others lend a helping hand to the victims of the Orlando shooting as well as their families. It may be small, but all help is appreciated.

I hope you love our little anthology, many authors answered the call to arms. It's only right we go Over the Rainbow and to help out so in the end, love wins.
