Happy Thanksgiving! To the people I am thankful to #eXbdd

Image result for happy thanksgiving
In the Philippines, we don't normally celebrate Thanksgiving for obvious reasons. However, the internet has changed all of that, and many of us here have (online)friends abroad who do. Filipinos love to celebrate, we even borrow holidays just for the sake of celebrating.
Celebration for us means lots of food on the table where the family and friends gather around to share the goodies. Most times, the host of the celebration does all the cooking, but potluck is becoming a norm as well. It's great to taste the delicious specialty foods that each friend or family bring along.

For this year, I am truly thankful for all of the opportunities and blessings that came my and my family's way. I am also grateful to my detractors, for they did distract me for a while and I allowed them to, but in the end, I persevered and am now a much stronger person than before. Also, I would like to thank my publisher, eXtasy Books. I have not been truly active this year, but I continue to enjoy their support. To my readers. Truly, you amaze me every day. You keep me up, especially when I see good (& bad) reviews. You all make me want to be a better writer so you can continue to read more stories. To my friend and co-author, Ann Mickan. Dear, you I love. I also thank you for being who you are and staying strong. To my cover artist and co-author in the eXtasy Books stable, Angela Waters a.k.a. Taryn Jameson. I thank you for your continued strength. You make me see the good in all of us. To my boss Tina Haveman. You may spank me once in a while, but you do it with love, and that I thank you for you make me continue to grow. To Laura MacNellis. Dear editor. Editor dearest :D And then there's Jay and Bri, the women who scare me the mostest and are the bestest support in eXtasy. You are superwomen!
This year has been pretty extraordinary. I rediscovered someone who I grew up with and sat next to in school. Someone who I called my best friend way back in highschool. Isobelle Cate (Mia), reconnecting was exciting and a blessing. Love you, girl!
I can't let this thanking post go without mentioning these four wonderful and beautiful women. All online friends, but are buddies all around. Susan Mac Nicol, Alina Popescu, Bronwyn Heeley, and Lynn Michaels. Girls!!!!! You are always there. Whenever I want to disappear, you pull me out of the hole and kick my ass. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Finally, to all of my friends, here and abroad, be you here with us in the flesh or remain anonymous online, I wish you the bestest Thanksgiving this year.

#eXbdd Seelie Kay Talks Snatching Diana #Interview #ComingSoon #Excerpt

Today, I welcome Seelie Kay, writer of intriguing stories with a legal backdrop where something kinky happens. We talk with her today about her latest release, Snatching Diana and what she says is a great read by itself.

Q. Why do you write romance?

Because I am fascinated by the games people play to find and secure a lasting relationship, which is not always love. There’s the chase, the courtship, the falling, the surrender. That’s what I try to capture in my stories.

Q. Do you prefer a certain type of romantic hero?

I adore smart, dashing gentlemen who aren’t afraid to live on the edge. They can be a bad boy, a billionaire, a prince, or a secret agent. That hint of danger just hooks me!

Q. Why did you write “Snatching Dianna?”

Actually, for two reasons. First, when writing the Kinky Briefs series, there were certain couples I fell in love with: The Sheikh and his American lawyer wife who sue terrorists on behalf of their victims, the police chief (with a preference for handcuffs) and his criminal defense attorney wife who seek to right wrongs, and the covert agent and his law professor wife, who are smart, funny, and incredibly hot! Each of these couples have wonderful relationships and incredible lives. And each and every one of them is dedicated to preserving justice. I wanted their stories to continue. So, I created the Feisty Lawyers series. Second, “Snatching Dianna” deals with a law student who is kidnapped by a slave trafficking cartel. This plot permitted me to focus not only on the continuing problem of slave trafficking, but also on the investigative issues behind finding a missing adult. In this story, there is no evidence and no witnesses. It’s takes a lot of investigative savvy to piece together seemingly unrelated clues. I love complex puzzles and this story lets me go wild!

Q. Why slave trafficking? That seems like such an uncomfortable subject.

My book ends with this statement: Experts say that more than 3,000 people around the world are sold, kidnapped, or forced into slavery each day, many of them children. Even in the United States, men, woman, and children are snatched off the streets for the purpose of human slavery. Slave traffickers do not discriminate by race, gender, religion, education, or socio-economic status. Victims of slave trafficking come from all walks of life, as do those who traffic in humans. It is a crime of international proportions and one that requires committed international cooperation.

As a lawyer and a human being, I think it is a topic worth calling attention to.

Q. This book includes three very different couples. Wasn’t it a little hard to keep track?

(laughs) At times. However, each couple is at a different stage in their lives and each took a different journey to find one another. That helps to keep them separate.

Q. Romantic suspense is a new genre for you. You’re most known for your Kinky Briefs series, which are collections of stories about lawyers in love, with a dash of kink. Why the shift from erotic romance?

I have always had a preference for mysteries and thrillers. I enjoy plots that challenge the mind. Plus, I am a big James Bond fan. My characters still enjoy erotic, loving relationships, but now the action focuses on solving a dilemma or crime. Instead of “metaphorical guns,” these characters wield real ones. (Wink!)

Q. How does your former profession as a lawyer impact your writing?

After 30 years, the law and the legal world are so firmly embedded in my brain that I can’t flush them out. That has become the lens through which I view the world and that naturally guides my characters and plots. Little peculiarities that I have witnessed in lawyers and the law always work their way into my stories.

Q. Any plans to write outside the romance genre completely?

Actually, I ghostwrite non-fiction for other professionals—doctors, lawyers, financial gurus—so I dip my toes into a lot of different genres. However, I have been itching to write a book about a relative who founded a religious cult. I researched it for years and found a lot of information that had been buried. I have a pile of paper a foot high. Someday, I need to go through it carefully and start writing. I have the interest, just not the time.

Q. The cover of the book clearly says “Snatching Dianna” is part one in the Feisty Lawyers Series. How many more books can we look forward to?

At this point, I’m not sure. In each book, I introduce new characters with compelling stories, so it is difficult to predict how and when their stories will be brought to a satisfactory conclusion. However, the second book, “Infamy,” is in the queue, and I have a good start on the third, “Cult.” There should be at least one more after that.

The hours are counting down as investigators try to prove that Dianna Murphy has been snatched. Unfortunately, without witnesses and solid evidence, all the police really know is that she is missing.

When suburban Milwaukee law student Dianna Murphy fails to connect with her roommate, there is no real evidence that she has been snatched. Until Law Professor Janet MacLachlan, a former covert agent, discovers a single clue, one that points to a taking by a slave trafficking cartel. In a race against time, Janet recruits her husband, secret agent Cade Matthews, small-town Police Chief David Manders and his wife, criminal defense attorney Julianna Constant, and other

law students to uncover the truth. Can they prove she has been taken, before Dianna disappears without a trace?

Romantic Suspense (Three Flames)

Excerpt:

After what seemed like hours in the sweltering van, it lurched to a stop.

Dianna heard a man bark orders. A door to the van opened and someone pulled the rope from her feet, then removed her hood. She took a deep breath. A man grabbed her by the arm, forced to her feet, and pulled from the van. Dianna stumbled when she hit the ground. The stones were hot and her feet were covered by athletic socks, no shoes. Show no weakness.

Dianna immediately surveyed her surroundings. It was still night, but she was in a well-lit courtyard. A large stone mansion stood in front of her. She looked to her right, then her left. The courtyard was enclosed by a large stone fence, at least eight feet high. A fortress. Fortunately, Dianna was a rock-climber. She could rappel over the fence with the right equipment. All she would need was something to serve as a pick, maybe a rope. A knife, a screwdriver, even a fork. Keep your eyes and ears open. Be ready.

A large black man, dressed in a white suit and a maroon turban, walked out of the front door and down the stairs. He stopped and flashed a malevolent smile. He flung his arms wide and in a cultured baritone boomed, “Welcome to paradise, ladies. I hope you enjoy your stay.”

Some of the guards laughed.

“Crikey,” Tillie muttered. “Sounds like a blasted genie.”

Dianna glanced sideways and for the first time, got a look at her new friend. She was tall and thin, her body well defined. She looked strong and aware, almost fierce. Her eyes seemed to be studying the place, taking everything in. She showed no fear. Instead, she seemed interested. Something was off. Tillie did not act like a victim as the others did. She was not cowed. Was she a cop? Or like Dianna, someone who would not permit themselves to be broken?

There was only one thing of which Dianna was certain. She had found a friend. A useful one.

Update: Three Months and Three Books Coming Up

Image may contain: text

How time flies. Construction on my house did not go ahead as scheduled. The architect promised three months and done. I have the screenshots to show if anyone cares to see. I asked said architect several times through the course of the first three months that the way I saw how the work was being done, the house wouldn't get finished on schedule. Several times, said individual reiterated their assurance that the schedule was right on...well, schedule.
Fast forward to the fifth month and the architect and contractor had been fired. I kept the foreman and his men because they were just as infuriated and angry at the two. I took over everything. Like...everything.
The good news is, the men stayed on because they were finally getting paid. The construction proceeded at a faster pace and eventually, on the last day of the fifth month, 90% got done. The painter, bless him, abandoned his job. He was connected to the architect and contractor and they diverted him.
I'm not suing them, but I am actively making sure everyone in the community, meaning the city, knows what they failed to do. Word of mouth still works, even in this day and age :D
All the time the house was getting done, I was too distracted to write. And if I so much as attempted to sit down and write, the BLOCK reared its ugly head. So I relaxed. Enjoyed the new house, etc. I relaxed.
The relaxation worked for the better. As you read from the title, I have three books coming up.

October ...sometime this month, THE HUNT will be released.
Sometime during the Christmas Holidays, HIS CHRISTMAS VALENTINE is releasing.
I don't know the exact date or month, but sometime before this year is over, DIVORCED DIVAS ANTHOLOGY: AROUND THE BLOCK will also be releasing.

Except for THE HUNT, I don't have the covers for my stories yet. I'll be posting those as soon as.

Sometimes the second time around is the right time.

Kevin McCallum ran out of a verbally abusive relationship of over twenty-four years. It was bad. Without going into the gory details, he left his house and ended up in an apartment. His older brother, Jason, sends him a private message on messenger telling him that an old boyfriend of his, Matthew Logan, was saying hi.
It troubles Kevin. At the time he’d dated Matthew, he had broken off the relationship before it had gone two months. He’d realized then that he hadn't cared for him. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but it hadn’t felt right when Matthew had held him in his arms. Kevin decides what the heck. He could talk to Matthew, no biggie. It doesn’t take long. Kevin finds Matthew’s profile page and requests a friendship. An hour later, the chat box pops up and Kevin and Matthew start chatting. They chat until dawn. The next day, they chat again right after work. Before Kevin realizes it, he’s telling Matthew everything and discovers he and Matthew have a lot more in common than he realized. Matthew’s going through a bad divorce himself, and with two kids, too. That was not the end of the common things and life events they shared.
Kevin couldn’t resist saying yes to Matthew’s invitation to meet up. The friendship soon turns into a romantic bond, and both men discover that yes, it is possible to find a healthy relationship the second time around.

Image result for juggling multiple works in progressWhat Am I Working On Now?

I have several Works In Progress going on, but these days I am actively writing on several series installments. I can't talk much about them but two are of the Sci-Fi category, one (or two) are Horror, and the other two are contemporary.

That I could finally write again is kind of freeing, so I will keep at it until my fingers drop.
Wish me luck :D

Reasons Why I'm Going Exclusive with @eXtasyBooks

Yesterday, I made a decision: to publish exclusively with eXtasy Books. Please note that my publisher does not know this yet. This was a personal decision. All they know is that I sent them an email asking for them to possibly adopt my self-published books. So far, I've written twenty-one (21) books for them.
Gah! Did I just count that right? *goes back to check*
Wow. 21.
Anyway, back to this rambling mind...21????? Really?

Focus.
So.
When I first started out writing, it had been my intention to publish a few books with them, and self-publish a few others. Good plan in theory, but it didn't work out the way I'd thought it would. I mean, I really figured it would work because of how others are doing it.
Unfortunately, it seems that I didn't consider the fact that I am in the Philippines and that Amazon would not pay me through PayPal like the others do. When I signed up, I had to go through a whole process of establishing an account with their affiliate. Payoneer. I was okay with it, I mean, the others have their accounts with them, no big deal.
But it ended up as a HUGE DEAL.
Fast forward without having to go through messy details: my self-pubbed books sold. I just could not access my royalties.
Four years later, I've given up. I couldn't think of selling more of my books and not enjoy the earnings. For that is what selling the books is for: enjoyment.
All these years, I've been wrestling with emails and such and lately, no replies. I had WIPs waiting to get finished, but I didn't want to finish them. I was thinking: what if I do finish them and they sell? What then? Given my history with these two companies, I didn't want to risk selling my books through them.
Yesterday, I started the process of pulling out my books from all vending sites. I am not done yet, I have to hunt down my password for PayHip and that's going to be fun. I am not rushing, and yet I am anxious to get this over and done with.
Today, I received an email from my editor who wants to know what Titles I would be submitting so they could prepare the necessary documents. This meant so much to me. That eXtasy Books would trust me to send them my previously published works.
And this leads me to think about the others out there who are hurting after the latest kerfuffle in the MM community.
I am, technically?, a person of color or a POC. In my DNA runs the genes of my ancestors who either invaded or migrated to the Philippines. I have a combination of European and Asian genes in me. At last count, I've got six or is it seven? Anyway, why am I bringing this up?
When I decided to write, I went over too many to mention or remember publishing houses. I spent weeks pouring over submission guidelines, interacted with several authors, bought books from different publishers, just to see their styles. I examined book covers, I even examined prices. My first attempt to submit got accepted in an anthology, but that didn't last long as the small publisher had some issues and they had to close shop. Instead of submitting the same story to another publisher, I self-published that book through Amazon while writing another for possible submission. I finished the book and submitted to another house, Wayward Ink. After submitting, I wrote another book and submitted to another house, which, after three months, sent me a nasty email to the effect that my work was not good enough. I shrugged it off as by that time, I'd submitted to eXtasy Books a short little sci-fi erotic romance and it had been accepted. Compelled. I found out a few weeks after submission that it had been accepted, plus, the editor showed me a review by the one who read the piece. That was an ego boost and gave me the confidence to keep writing. By this time, Wayward had published a short piece in an anthology and I was in the editing process for Hidden: Evils. That books did very well, but my relationship with WIP didn't go so well. While I was still processing my future with Wayward, I decided to submit that horridly received story I'd gotten a rejection for and submitted it to eXtasy Books.
Objectified. It was my first, legitimate, acknowledged bestseller.
I submitted Taboo, at that time a really short 10k, to Wayward. Things got rough and I pulled it before it could be edited and immediately rewrote the whole thing, added 20k++ and submitted to eXtasy.
Taboo overcame Objectified.
The Rise of the Symbionts, Vol. I, I fought long and hard to get off from Wayward as my relationship with them had gone bananas. On December 28th, 2015, I received my rights to the series. I rewrote the first volume of three books by adding several thousand words to each, and the rest, as they say, is history.
What was the difference? Trust.
I learned to trust eXtasy while I learned to distrust the others. Not only that, I could reach out to the staff and the owners without having to suffer through red tape. I didn't have to twiddle my thumbs or bite my nails, or, as in the case of Wayward, suffer palpitations that almost brought me to the hospital.
Editing with eXtasy is not only a learning experience, it is a joy and...I really hate to say this...I look forward to it. The editors and proofers I worked with were not only professional, they had time to teach me what worked or what didn't work.
Oh, don't think it's a breeze. I've had my bad moments with them, their address is not in the Garden of Eden, it's in Canada. The staff is human after all, and so am I. But the differences were dealt with the swiftest and most professional way.
What really struck me was that they treated me as just another author. I was not someone they would bend over backward for because of my ethnicity. I was not someone they would give a pass because of the color of my skin. They treated me as a human being. Period.
Trust is not something I give easily. To anyone.
Although I am skeptical in nature and suspicious to the point of paranoia, I like working with eXtasy. I love their professional manner, especially when I ask stupid questions. They don't give me stupid answers or DUH me. Please note: two publishers DUHed me. That was not a nice feeling. And then there is the artwork. Do I even need to talk about the book covers? No. No words necessary.
Let me end this longish essay to say: Thank you to the wonderful people of eXtasy: Tina, Angela, Jay, Nicki, Laura...and all the rest. You gave my stories a home.

Going through the process of removing all of my self-published books from all the vending sites

I have several books that I self-published years ago. As I can't enjoy the fruits of my labor because of some technicalities with a paying affiliate, I will rewrite these titles, get them re-edited, and eventually redistributed through eXtasy Books. Those who follow me know the difficulties I've been having getting my royalties from Amzn. They pay, I just can't touch my money from their affiliate paying thingy. I've given up after staring at the $ and I can't touch it. I'm no masochist, I am hurting, but I don't like not doing anything or giving up. I am going to do something about the whole thing.
So. Watch out! Those titles may be old, but next you see them, they'll be longer, sexier, and a whole lot better. Until then, watch out for future announcements.

After one intimate encounter with Tarek, Julian begins to question his life decisions.

Tarek is one of the deadliest bodyguards working for CyNapse Security, Inc. He also wants to show Julian what it would be like to have a meaningful, loving, and trusting relationship instead of one based on physical passion and lust.

Other Books In The Series

The first time billionaire Paul Howell laid eyes on Arjan Kerchner he knew he’d been caught. Paul never expected to fall head over heels in love with a man he’d only just met, but if there was one thing he never questioned it was his instincts.

Arjan was well aware of his perfect face and body but he'd turned his back on modeling to pursue his dreams of becoming a pharmaceutical chemist. Arjan never expected a stranger in a bar to buy him a bottle of water, nor to be courted by one of the richest men in the world the very next day.

It could have all been fun and romantic, but for a stalker who refused to accept that Arjan was not a possession.

Being in a relationship with a billionaire can be nice but restrictive, especially when there are bodyguards around.

Will Arjan learn to live with the choices he makes so he can be with Paul, or will the stalker put a violent end to what is beginning to look like a romance made in heaven?

Heart Held Hostage. Let's Talk About The Serai

I've got a new Series!

Yes, I know, I hear you. I've written several series already, so why create another one? Well, have you ever heard about plot bunnies and how they can hop into your mind and drive you crazy unless they got your full attention? The Serai came out of nowhere and kicked me in the head without my realizing it. I tried to ignore them, truly, I did. But, alas. It wasn't to be and so they were borne.

Confession. This little detail, my pals Ann Mickan and Lynn Michaels know for sure and true. I wrote Heart Held Hostage in 17 hours. Well, not the full story, obvs, but the draft. A draft of 18k words that morphed in under three days into what it is now listed as: 29834 words. Wow, and that expansion came up because someone found a plot hole the size of Arkansas and I had to cover it up. As I'm not about to stop writing without going around the bush and build up steam, I ended up adding the 10k or so words :D That made me happy as the result is what you are about to read.

You are going to check it out, right? I mean, this IS my very first mpreg story ever written. I love the trope, I love the genre, call me weird, but I thought I could never do it. Well, I did and you should check it out :D *unrestrained self-promotion here*

So, who are the Serai?

Before I go into details, let me share with you my awesome cover by the fantabulous Angela Waters of eXtasy Books. Ooh, and check out that brand new logo over at the upper right-hand corner. It's a gorgeous logo all eXtasy Books are going to be displayed on all their book covers from now on. Divine Destiny has its own logo, too. Now you don't ever have to wonder ever again what publisher released my books. That logo should say it all :D

Wars change, warriors don’t…or so they say.

The Serai have won the galactic war. Tasked to take charge of the human assimilation into their herd, Prince Jytrerd never thought to find a mate among the human slaves. He learns that the human Captain Ian McCaskey is his potential breeder and saves his life. Because they are sterile, the Serai need the genetic materials their captives give to father their younglings. It is now up to Jytrerd to make Ian understand that he is valued above all others.

THE SERAI

Known collectively as Serai, these are an all-male species who inhabit the Serain Galaxy. They are a highly civilized race who live in herds.  The bi-pedaled ones are peaceful and make up the intellect of the species. They enjoy a highly evolved technology in agriculture and science. The quad-pedaled ones are the warrior caste, the protectors of the Galaxy. Ruled by an Imperial family, the Serai will protect their own to the last warrior. The Serai is also sterile, but they do have brood pouches to enable them to carry their young. For genetic material, they use captives to fertilize their seed and have the ability to segregate to whatever caste or function they want them to be.

The Serai may look like the mythological centaurs, but they are not. They are a complex species whose primary aim is to live in a peaceful and profitable herd. Invaders are not welcome and will be destroyed. When the humans came to destroy, there was no hesitance to their retaliation. It didn't take them long to subdue the humans and enslave them. The repercussions of the enslavement are what makes up the stories of The Chronicles of the Serai.

I truly hope I've piqued enough of your curiosity. Yes, there is mpreg in these stories, but it is not the human men who get pregnant, although they are necessary to the process. Primarily, this series is about romance and acceptance. There can be triggers, but I cannot avoid that. The tag of #mpreg should be enough to warn future readers that there is something here that may not be their fancy. Also, there is enslavement here and the brutality of the repercussions of war. I think I did a good job in gentling the human situation in these stories.

How did this group of merry men come about? What triggered the inspiration? This pic. This. OMG, I just right about fell off my chair when this popped into my field of research. It was totally unrelated and yet, oh man. Can you blame me for falling in love?
